Make a network cable

Turn a length of Ethernet cable and two plugs into something genuinely useful.

Do it

1. Get suitable Ethernet cable, matching RJ45 plugs and a crimping tool.
2. Choose one wiring standard and use the same standard at both ends.
3. Arrange the conductors carefully, trim them evenly and insert them fully into the plug.
4. Crimp both ends.
5. Test the finished cable with a cable tester before putting it into service.
